*jealous* Les Miserables is my favorite musical of all time (well, co-favorite with Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd), and I've never even SEEN the damn thing! I know it very well indeed because I was in a production, but I've never actually WATCHED it. Listening to the soundtrack makes me want to cry because of all the memories.

I could gush forever, but I won't do it here. I will say that I like seeing Marius/Cosette stuff because poor Cosette usually gets the short shrift and many Eponine fans resent her for no good reason - Cosette did not "take Marius away" from Eponine, he wouldn't have fallen for her anyway. It makes SO much more sense for M & C to be together, especially if you read the book.

Oh, yay~ I'm glad you agree! One of the biggest things that rubs me the wrong way with Mizzies is the undeserved hatred of Cosette-- as if it's impossible to like both her and Eponine at once, which is beyond me.
This production, thankfully, resolved the love triangle problem (I felt) by being more true to the book, and having Eponine be visibly at least five or six years younger than M & C. It made it less about Marius being a bastard who doesn't ever notice this girl who's throwing herself at him, and more about Marius not noticing a Little Sister figure who is far too young for him and whom he'd never look at Like That anyway.
I thought it really worked, and for the first-timers watching it, I would think they got a better understanding than the people who see that Eponine and Cosette are the same age and assume it's a class issue instead of another factor.
